A new book that digs deep into the 300+ year history of Alabama’s Port City, Mobile, is currently being researched by local author Joe Cuhaj.
The book, which is titled “Hidden History of Mobile”, will delve into
some dark corners to reveal long forgotten historic tales from the city’s past.
“I’m spending a lot of time with dead people,” Cuhaj jokes. “Seriously,
though, I’m looking for the stories and history that have been lost as well as putting
new twists on stories we all know like how Mobile helped start Mardi Gras in
New Orleans, or that Alabama Crimson Tide football coach “Bear” Bryant coached
his first game in Mobile, a game that actually saw the bleachers collapse. But
that is just skimming the surface. The book will be digging much deeper than that.”
Hidden History of Mobile is being published by History Press and will
hit bookstores early Fall of 2019.
